Q. I am concerned that if I have an accident or something like a stroke, no one will know that I have appointed a representative under a Representative Agreement that they should contact if I am unable to communicate. My lawyer said that I should keep a copy of the document on my fridge, but what if I am not at home? Do you have any suggestions?
A. I have had a number of my clients indicate that they wear a Medic Alert bracelet or necklace which would not only be a great way to ensure that your representative is contacted, but also to indicate if you have drug allergies or other complications that should be made known. See www.medicalert.ca
